38 virgins killed in bus crash on their way to King of Swaziland's wife choosing ceremony
The accident happened on Friday night when their open truck smashed into a car on the road between the tiny kingdom's two main cities, Mbabane and Manzini, en route to the traditional Reed Dance.
"A total of 38 young girls have been pronounced dead, with more than 20 others seriously injured," Swaziland Solidarity Network spokesman Lucky Lukhele said.
The Swaziland Solidarity Network campaigns for democracy in the landlocked kingdom within South Africa.
"The girls were in an open truck which hit a sedan car stopped on the road," Mr Lukhele said.
The Reed Dance, due to be held on Monday, is a beauty pageant that attracts tens of thousands of young virgins who dance before the polygamist king, who can select one of them as a new wife.
Mswati, Africa's last absolute monarch, chose his 14th wife at the celebration in 2013.
King Mswati said the girls' deaths were a "tragedy in the nation".
"I would like to assure the parents who have lost their loved ones that the nation will support them through and through," the monarch, speaking on the sidelines of a trade fair in Manzini, said.
"Also those in hospitals, should the need arise for further treatment they will be taken to other hospitals to ensure no further loss of life."Police confirmed there had been "fatalities" but declined to specify the toll, with police spokesman Khulekani Mamba saying: "We won't be giving out any information because the maidens were on royal duty, so there are certain protocols to be followed before such information can be divulged to the public."
Local media gave varying tolls, with government newspaper The Observer reporting hundreds of injuries and the Swazi News saying seven people had been killed, six of them girls.
News of the accident has not been broadcast on public television and journalists were blocked from photographing the crash scene, a local journalist said.
Mswati III has ruled Swaziland as an absolute monarch since his father's death in 1982.

My Husband Passed Me Around Like A S*x-Toy!
I have been married for 9years and after much attempts to have a child of our own, 5years into the marriage we had a boy. It didn't come as easy as I have just put it; by the way I didn't state I married an man who had an identical twin and I am a (lady. That alone had come with loads of back and forth from the early preparation days of getting married to finally having a child. Some who have been in my shoes can relate better, I guess. Inter-cultural marriage isn't always one smooth ride.
My husband's twin was one man I always had high regard for, he was calm, ever willing to listen whenever my husband and the rest of the family came hard and blamed me for childlessness. Atimes I often wished I married him instead of my husband. That was how much effect he always had on me during those trying times.
All these while, my husband never had an issue with the closeness that existed between myself and his twin, infact he usually encourages him to come around and spend time with us; much to my delight considering he often gave comforting words whenever my husband chooses not to understand. There were days in which we just hung out and just enjoyed being happy. He makes some moves that I sometimes find offensive but my husband smiles and says he is my twin.
On this certain day, my husband went to work. I was home seeing a movie when my bro-in-law offered me wine he got on his way to our place, out of excitement I popped, had few shots while we giggled and laughed as usual. Few minutes later, I felt tipsy and tired, not too long I fell asleep. Waking up, I found myself in the bedroom naked, examined myself and realized there was a sexual intercourse. Sitting across me was my bro-in-law equally undressed smiling and said it was time for me to know the truth because he could no longer bear it and feels I deserve to know the truth. It was like the saddest and most disappointing moment in my life.
Before I could say a word, he told me all what happened. He told me it was his twin(my husband)'s idea to often switch places at nights. Apparently my husband had low sperm count according to his twin, as such could not father a child, that he often had s*x with me at night while I thought it was my husband. While he said all these, I started adding two plus two together and it became obvious he was saying the truth. My husband sometimes wear a red boxers to bed and when we wake up in the morning I will find a black boxers on the floor and red on him. A lot of things started running through my mind and it began to make sense.
I broke down and couldn't stand it. Called my mother on the phone and told her I was finished. I couldn't tell her what had happened and suicide became my next option. My husband had ruined me, he had made me worthless, life no longer means anything to me as I now see myself as a piece of shit.
Suicide was all I thought of, the two closest persons to me had passed me around like a used s*x-toy. I have left my husband's house and moved on with my son, whom I am not sure of whom the real father is. Trust nobody. Life is cruel. My story.

PHOTO: ‘I was raped by every member of the cult on the day of my initiation’-16yrs Old Female Cultists
In recent times, the police have beamed their searchlight on cult activities across the country. This has led to several raids that have yielded results in Lagos, Anambra and Rivers states, as cultists were rounded up in their hundreds. Among those arrested was a 16-year-old girl, Ifechukwu Atunanya, who claimed that she was forced to sleep with every male member of the cult during her initiation. Recovered from them were guns, matchet and several wraps of Indian hemp.
Ifechukwu was among 75 suspected cult members who were rounded up by Anambra State Police command on July 3, 2015. All the suspects were alleged to be members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and were all arrested in a bush in Awka during the initiation of new members.
According to the state Commissioner of Police, Hosea Karma, the police acted on an intelligence report that the cult members and their new entrants were in a bush performing some rituals. The raid was conducted by the Anti-Cultism Squad led by Dickson Osamuonyi.
Part of their ritual, he explained, includes sleeping with female intending members. He said they do that in order to secure their oath of secrecy. It was during the raid that 16-year-old Ifechukwu was arrested.
At the police station, Ifechukwu, a secondary school dropout and member, claimed that she had to travel to Anambra from Abuja just to witness the initiation of new members. "I joined them three months ago and during my initiation, I was forced to have s*x with every registered member of the cult present that night. I was given a sedative so as not to feel what they were doing. It was not easy, but I bore the pain," she said.
Her parents, who are from Anambra State, are still alive. However, Ifechukwu said that they were not aware of her secret cult . "I got to know about the cult activity through a friend. She assured me that all the connection that I needed in this life will be made if I joined the group. I am from a poor family and I wanted to be the light that will change the situation in my family.
"She never told me that I will be raped till the day of initiation. The day we were initiated, I was the only girl in their midst. Although, I have not started reaping the gains, I was determined to be a successful member. I was further convinced to stay because I discovered that they are more honourable than the others. I am sorry and would love to be given the opportunity to go back to school. I never knew that it is crime to be a member. I am sorry," Ifechukwu pleaded.
Another member, Ugochukwu , who also spoke with Saturday Sun, said that they are all undergraduates of various institutions in Anambra. "Apart from some of our national leaders, we are all students. I was into the cult while I was still in my first year. I had no choice but to join them because of the harassment in school. I discovered that most of the Engineering students in my school were members of different cult groups.
"Again, if you identify with a known cult in school, the lecturers will respect you. You don't have to buy handouts or offer bribe to get credit in a course. This was why I joined them," he said.
Ugochukwu insisted that they did not steal or harass innocent people. "The guns that were found with us were bought in case there was a clash in school. It is our leaders who are all graduates and working across the country that normally assist us to secure the arms. It is strictly for defence and one of the rules of our group is that you must read and pass your exams on merit."
On the issue of rape, Ugochukwu said it only happened with female members. A female intending member cannot undergo the rigorous process during the initiation. So, our leaders suggested that the best way to get them under oath is for every registered member to have s*x with her during initiation. She would be semi-conscious during the process so that she will not physically feel the pain. Ifechukwu's case was better because we were only 20 registered men present on her day of initiation. All of our female members were raped," he further said.
In Rivers, 201 arrested
Also in Rivers State, detectives attached to the Anti-Robbery and kidnapping squad arrested over 127 suspected cultists while the Anti-cultism section rounded up over 74 others base in Port Harcourt. The state Commissioner of Police, Chris who confirmed their arrest, explained that the command was embarrassed by the high wave of kidnapping and armed robbery incident in the state. "We launched Operation Keep Moving which was flagged off by Rivers State Governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike on July 2, 2015. The Operation Keep Moving is proving to be a success. We will not stop or be complacent, the march is on and we must deliver on our promise to make Rivers State peaceful, secure and safe. Investigation revealed that most of them were also notorious armed robber and kidnappers who had unleashed terror in the state in the past.
"We recovered several AK 47 rifles, locally made guns, locally made revolver pistols; several pump action and 12 motorcycles. Meanwhile, they have different cult groups known as Dey-Gbam, Dey-well, Iceland and Vikings. The suspects will be charged to court at the end of investigation," CP said.
In Lagos, 38 were arrested
In Lagos, policemen attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested 38 suspects who were alleged to be members of cult groups in Somolu area of the state. The team had responded to distress calls from concerned citizens about criminal activities and other unlawful engagements in the area. According to the tip-off, the suspected cult members had announced that they were going to initiate new members of public who were interested. The team of RRS operatives, headed by Supol , immediately moved to scene. Those arrested were 29 male and nine females. They were immediately conveyed to the squad's headquarters in Alausa, for further interrogation.
Following police's investigation, the suspects were said to among cultists and social miscreants disturbing the area. "The suspects are terrorizing law abiding citizens in the area while some of them are specialists in bag and handsets , pick-pocketing and such other activities both in the and day and at night.
